Hi,

I'm having a small problem. I've connect a HP storage enclosure (A3311A) to the machine. Initially i had 4 SCSI disk drives and I put them all on one side and terminated the other 2 ends with a scsi terminator. I wanted to add two more disk drives and i put them on the side 2. when i do a ioscan -C disk the new disks dont show up.

This is what i did, first i set the scsi id's of the new disks to values that dont already exists. Then I made connection from the "side1 top to machine", "side1 bottom to side2 top", "side2 bottom terminated with a terminator", side2 power cord to the power supply. did i do somthing wrong???

Thanks so much,
Sri

Sounds correct to me. You could double check that the cables are tightly connected though.

If that doesn't work, you could check that side 2 is OK by connecting that to the server instead of side 1. If only two disks show up then suspect your side 1 to side 2 cable.

Regards,
John

One other thought, Jamaica enclosures can take both FWD and SE SCSI disks but you can't have both on the same bus. You are only using one type are you?

You will have to recycle the power on the Jamaica cab to reset the bus and pick up the newly set scsi ids, of course this will also require booting the server.
