is there is any tool otherthan ftp,samba in hp-ux 11.11 to transfer files from windows??????

USe CD/DVD or tapes to copy from windows to hp-ux server

Hi Arun,

Try using pcnfs for this if this is just a copy carried out by users.

If you are planning to script better use ftp or sftp for this.

If you intend you use pcnfs you need to buy or package from any vendor ..search google for pcnfs.

Setup on unix and start the deamon, then from your windows browser you will be able to get the directory. (It will be quire same as NFS)

Arun,

1) On the HP-UX server, if not already installed, download/install OpenSSH (depot available here: http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Networking/Admin/openssh-4.3p2/).

2) Configure/start OpenSSH daemon (sshd).

3) On the Windows client, install an SCP app (such as PSCP, WinSCP, cygwin, etc.).

4) Connect from Windows client to HP-UX server.

Are you looking for convenience (ie, SAMBA or CIFS) or for speed? All of the shared disk solutions like NFS, SAMBA/CIFS have a lot of overhead and will not be nearly as fast as ftp. Additionally, sharing disks between unrelated operating systems can lead to ASCII file incompatibilities.

I use psftp from Putty utility to copy from/to files to Windows. If Putty installed then go to c:\program files\putty\psftp
