Looking at different HW SW support options for my HP 9000's I am being told that HP is now outsourcing the maintenance on mid to small account out to the channel partners. Does that mean HP engineer are still doing the work? or are they using their own engineers. Are there significant cost savings if the channel partner does the support.
Any insight on this would be helpful

Hey Horns!

As I understand it, the channel partners are handling the support contracts - the changes, the renewals, all that sort of thing. HP has been trying to streamline contract maintenance for years, but it hasn't worked out too well so now they're trying to push it onto the partners. Your actuall support work would still come through your local engineers.

Pete

P.S. Congratulations on the Championship!

I think the cost is going to be the same. HP apparently kick back some money to the partner for doing the interaction with the customer.

I'm trying it with my contracts this year. Last fall it took me over two months to get my contracts renewed tyring to work with SCA express, which apparently has been out-sourced to India. It was not a fun process and not one I care to go through again.

Pete
