You ask for any application as of today and it is portable and available for HPUX.
The reason why HPUX is very rubust is because of reliability/excellent support (one example you can see is in this forum)/ease of managebility.
You can probably look at the success stories give above.
Hi,

I do agree with yogeeraj's priorotized list.. The first contender is ofcourse, to host a Database.

As your query itself can be taken as proof, As you mentioned OV,NNM... though these are apps by nature, still there main core is based on oracle database. Again proving that HPUX server being used for DB hosting extensive environment...

There are others aswell. Ofcourse depends on perspective from the industry stand point of view...

Manufacturing industry - To control there productionline, with HPUX clusters.DB for managing inventory.

Banking sector - Using HPUX for DB hosting.

Generic industry - Use HPUX to run SAP/CRM packages which in turn .. uses some DB in the background.

Telecom industry - for hosting SAP and billing application such as "portal".

The list could be never ending.. It can vary from non-technical to big technical based industries with running thousands of apps, as per there perspective. I would say it easy to list.. what industry is not using UNIX servers per say , because the list is small. I'm sure HPUX servers brush up with all facet of Industries as long as they decide to use a UNIX solution.

Regards,
Senthil Kumar .A

Shalom sekar,

HP-UX is chosen for the big, industrial strength, got to be there type applications.

I was recently consulted at work concerning a half terrabyte oracle database that is in the planning stages.

I'm the Linux guy there btw, but due to past knowledge, we don't always do new projects in Linux. I recommended 11i v2 and hp-ux because of its reliability and the fact we have more experience with it versus 64 bit Red Hat.

I've had some recent experiences with poor quality control at RH that was included in three major releases of RH 4. Though HP-UX has its quirks, its always been more reliable in the release stage than everything else I've used.

Steven E Protter
Linux Administrator
HP-UX CSA
NDS Israel
