Just trying to get some input as in how popular really are the HP's Continental Clusters and RAID Manager BC/CA products?

Unfortunately, HP support isn't particularly impressive for these two products. That makes me wonder, What are the products that our folks use for Disaster tolerant HA solutions or data replication ?

TIA

Sundar.

There are quite a number of the CC licenses sold, some without the CA replication software, some with.
It all depends on whether the customer wishes to use logical data replication or physical replication.
Sundar,

Specific for Oracle - use datagaurd.

But in fact we have few inst with CC and works fine.

Also the support for them are good in EU.

Cheers ...007
Hi,

We are using BC/CA and CC here. We are replicating to a disaster recovery site which is one thousand miles away.

Our support has been just fine.

JP
Sometimes the solution is data replication via the array (hardware, as with CA or SRDF), and sometime it is at the host (software, as with DataGuard). Sometimes the best solution could involve both. It really takes some up front analysis of the environment. CA on the XP has been more robust than CA on the EVA historically, and this might still be the case. You should work closely with HP presales technical resources in making sure that you have a good solution. Not every local presales TCC has this level of knowledge, but there are people inside HP that they can go to for help who do know how to do the analysis, if you have sufficient data to give them about your environment. Distance introduces limitations on bandwidth and increases latency, and that will always have an effect on the solution for high transaction rates. If transaction rates are very low, then it isn't a big concern, but HA/DR and high rates always create challenges.
