Hi guys,

We are going to carry out some work on one of our servers. I need to do a backup of only certain filesystems (the affected areas). Rather then running a full backup, what are the commands to do this? Can anybody please advise?

Thanks.

Hi,

It is always useful to have a full system backup before changes. What is the total size of all the file systems?

Which file systems you want to backup?
If these are OS file systems you can take ignite and exclude some file systems from it.

If it is not root file systems then all backup commands have tool to specify directories.

HTH,
Devender

Shalom Ravinder.

The fbackup command can back up certain filesystems. That can be done from the command line or the sam backup and recovery interface.

Make sure if you are backing up a database, the database is not open and running otherwise the copy will be useless.

Example:

fbackup -f /dev/rmt/0m -i/usr

That will back up the /usr filesystem to tape.

SEP
