      <description>Hello all&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have the next problem:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I modified my root passwd and I insert '#' between the password and now I can not access to the system, is not possible to access with the old passwd and with the new, is the '#' some different caracter in the passwd option?</description>

      <description>From man passwd:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;"Avoid password characters which have special meaning to the tty driver, such as # (erase) and @ (kill).  You may not be able to login with these characters."&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Try rebooting in single user mode.  You'll be logged in as root and can change the password from there.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Pete&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>The # and @ characters by default have special meaning during login so they should not be used. If you do not have sudo installed and setup, and don't have a window open with a root login, you can't make the necessary changes. So you'll have to reboot the system but on the console, interrupt the boot process and after choosing the primary path, say yes to interact with boot process. Then issue the command:&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;hpux -is&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;and you'll get into single user mode. Now you can reset the password.</description>

      <description>Hi RNC;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In single user mode machine won't ask u to enter password.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;it is also known as troubleshooting mode..u can just type the command " passwd " to change root password.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#passwd &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Hope u know how to get in the hp unix single user mode..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cheers&lt;BR /&gt;indrajit</description>
