Sergio, in /etc/inetd.conf, comment out ident (or in some cases auth) and run #inetd -c. In your /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file find the timeout for identd and set to zero, then recycle sendmail.

O Timeout.ident=0

#/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop
#/sbin/init.d/sendmail start

identd is a server which implements the TCP/IP proposed standard IDENT
user identification protocol as specified in the RFC 1413 document. identd
operates by looking up specific TCP/IP connections and returning the user name
of the process owning the connection.

Berlene

If this server is on the public Internet, I strongly urge you not to stop authentication.

smtp is already a spam relay begging to happen.

I have spent three hard weeks securing my servers and keeping them from being mis-used.

SEP
