netscape browser

Hi,
I have an hp workstation 715 run by hp-ux 10.20
i need to install the netscape browser on in. Any suggestions on how to obtain the s/w?does it come on application cd's or is there an internet site which provide it for download?

Hi,

10.20 is not actively supported anymore, so you will not get the most currect releases of software for it.

However, I think netscape can get installed by default, check /opt/netscape out.

If it's not there, you can download netscape 4 from HP for 10.20 from:
http://software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8342AA

Netscape > 6 is only available through HP for 11.x

If you want netscape 6, I found a version of mozilla for 10.20 here:

well, the only one I know of for 10.20 is here but it's quite old.

You might need to start looking at changing browsers. Mozilla is quite good but is difficult to get working on 10.20. However there is an old binary version here that might be of interest.

Netscape is no more supported on HP-UX.
you need to migrate to mozilla.

on top of it HP stopped supporting 10.20. why do u get into risk.

upgrade to 11i and use mozilla

You can obtain a precompiled Netscape 4.79 from
http://wp.netscape.com/download/archive/client_archive47x.html

Mozilla is better - but you cannot rely on it. My mozilla crashes whenever I try to login to the HP ITRC forum. It is better to keep Netscape, Mozilla and Lynx.

Migrating to HP-UX 11 is not recommended for all a 715 versions. But if you want to do it ... please tell me where I can obtain HP-UX 10.20 --> 11.X upgrade sources. I cannot find any pertinent information on the HP web pages.

Do not listen to people saying that 10.20 is no longer supported or old !
Hpux 10.20 is very good for a 715.
Yes, Netscape is on the hpux CD's, but I do not remember which one it is (Core, applications ,). If you want, I can search for you.
I recommand netscape 4.08 for performance,
and netscape 4.75 or higher for compatibilty with latest web sites (of which HP site)

Hi evreybody,
thanks for ur resposes,points will be asigned to u all. The workstation in question is only a test machine for one of our new trainees,so i downloaded the netscape from one of the links u have given me and its working .
