What tool were you using for the backup?

Was the database down when this was running?

Sometimes the database doesn't come down properly and the backup gets to a locked file.

If the database is hot, its difficult to back up the database with fbackup.

Could this merely be bad media, tape drive needs cleaning, something like that?

SEP

"$ finderr 6
-6 No such device or address.

An operating-system error code with the meaning shown was unexpectedly
returned to the database server. You might have made an error when you
configured the database software or in the REPORT TO clause of a
report. Look for other operating-system error messages that might give
more information."

I think you may have issues with your tape drive. Try exercising it with a tar command or a dd command. Try cleaning it. If all else fails call HP about replacing it.

Pete
