Can HPUX 11.23(itanium) run on INTEL Itanium cpu (e.g SBHG2 SR870BH2 2U Server)?

Dear all:
Does anyone know can HPUX 11.23 + HPUX 11.22 run on the INTEL Itanium cpu, such as (INTEL SBHG2 SR870RH2 2U Server) ?

The situation is for a project, we want to do development on the HPUX 11.23 and 11.22 OSes. However, we could not find any machine within our budget (i.e USD3000) that can run HPUX 11.23 and 11.22 on it, even with second hand.
Does anyone know where else (tried ebay) can I get cheaper machine for 11.22 and 11.23 ?

I believe HPUX wont run on the other servers like SBHG2 SR870RH2 !

Nope, It wont run on any other machines than HP servers.

Have a look at http://www.hp.com/products1/servers/integrity/entry_level/index.html

I think rx1620 is the starting base and it is priced $3,795. You can customize it as well.

If you go to froogle.com and search for rx1600 I think you will find some servers priced below 3000 USD.

Also, there is www.testdrive.hp.com for over the net access to systems, but perhaps not suitable for long-term development.

From time to time there are developer specials that include training classes for some quantity of money and a server as an added incentive. Might be stuff about that on devresource.hp.com or the DSPP site.

11.22 only runs on systems with "McKinley" CPUs which were the original Itanium2 CPUs. 11.22 will not run on "Madison" CPUs which are the Itanium2 CPUs since McKinely. 11.23 will run on both. Unless you really have to include 11.22, the proper place for everyone to be is 11.23 (11iv2).

even if HP-UX happened to "work" on a non-Integrity server, it would not be "supported"

Supported, not known to not work -> an HPite may be in trouble
Supported, known to not work -> an HPite is in trouble
Unsupported, known to work -> lucky today, unlucky tomorrow?
Unsupported, not known to not work -> there but for the grace of Turing

There are different chipsets in HP Integrity servers, that are unique to HP, so the OS is very likely to be dependent on some of those chipset features. HP uses its zx1 and sx1000 chipsets, while Intel likely uses their own chipset.
