      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I got the following messages in the syslog.log. Is it harmful to my system ? Do I need to turn something off and how can I do that if necessary ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Aug 21 11:12:07 hostname bootpd[20997]:&lt;BR /&gt;Aug 21 11:12:07 hostname bootpd[20997]: reading "/etc/bootptab"&lt;BR /&gt;Aug 21 11:12:07 hostname bootpd[20997]: read 1 entries from "/etc/bootptab"&lt;BR /&gt;Aug 21 11:12:07 hostname bootpd[20997]: reading "/etc/dhcpdeny"&lt;BR /&gt;Aug 21 11:12:07 hostname bootpd[20997]: error opening "/etc/dhcpdeny": No such file or directory&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am running HP-UX 11i without DHCP.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Many thanks,&lt;BR /&gt;Patrick</description>

      <description>Hi Patrick,&lt;BR /&gt;If memory serves, that file being "missing" doesn't matter. (especially if DHCP is not enabled) I believe that note is a generic call by bootpd during startup.&lt;BR /&gt;I would check man boopd for more details.&lt;BR /&gt;HTH,&lt;BR /&gt;Kel</description>
