We have set up a new HPUX user and restricted his UNIX shell rights to his home directory. The user is able to launch OVW and access the NNM map (via exceed). However, the user is NOT able to launch the SNMP Collection\Threshold grapher utility.

Is it possible to allow this user access to the NNM SNMP Collection\Threshold grapher utility even though we have restricted his HPUX user access.

What is the error the user gets when trying to lanuch the SNMP Collection\Threshold grapher?

Is this a root only utility? Is membership is a specific group required? Is the command in the PATH?

You are really dealing with two unrelated processes here. The user login and shell access is one item, but Xwindows is totally separate. Anyone can run a program and display something on this user's screen (unless you have added additional Xwindow authentication), so the issue is: what does the SNMP graph program report or log when it is run by this user?

X-windows are indeed a security loop hole in unix. When you don't have restriction on X anybody can execute commands with his previliges. Only thing you have to see whether you required certain previliges run this utility and also the error you receive while running this commands.
