Donny,

Have you looked at the man page for ftpd? It should tell you where the config files are and what parameters to set. I don't have a 10.20 system right now so I can't tell you exactly (the ftp server changed on 11.00).

Also make sure that you have the latest ftpd patch (PHNE_23948).

You may also want to look into installing wu-ftpd. This is a very good open source ftp server. HP used this ftp server for 11.00. A compiled binary can be found in the HP-UX porting archives at http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Networking/FTP/wu_ftpd-2.6.1/

Hope this helps.

Hi,

If you had been using 11.0 or above, you could have used "ftpaccess" to tighten the ftp access to the system. On 11.0 do "man ftpaccess" for more info.

Hope this helps.

Regds
Unfirtunately, ftpd is very limited on 10.20 so there are very few configuration choices. There is no control over the welcome message or controlling directory access as there is for the Washington University ftpd (WUftpd).

WUftpd has been standard on 11.0 and higher for a long time, but there is no patch for 10.20 as it is an obsolete product. You can look at the Liverpool Archive to get a replacement for ftpd:

http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Networking/FTP/wu_ftpd-2.6.1/
