I tried to swap the graphics card on a C3000 m/c. The system didn't recognise the card I tried, so I put the FX4 back. Now when the m/c boots it stops at the console login (no cde login window). I've looked around but can't identify what's changed.

Any ideas?

thanks
Ian Timms

Hi Ian,

you should to install the latest CDE, Xserver and X/Motif patches.
Sometimes these strange problems about CDE can be solved by installing latest patches about X environment.
I even know a similar case which was solved by O.S. reinstall and patches. Of course, it is an extreme solution, I hope that you won't be forced to this action.

Best regards,
Ettore
