Tape device db_block variable

Hi,
I'm installing Legato on HP-UX 11.0. How can I know if my the block size for tape device is setup as variable or fixed???? How can I change it as variable?

Hi,

as much as I understand, it is more a matter of the software than the hardware to write in extents it wants. I can only imagine that you have to set this for tape, which operate in either way only when set to do so.

On AIX you can specify a blocksize for the tape drive. I remember having to change it for some DDS tape we use to receive.
Did not see anything similar on HP
