    <description>Not a good idea to kill any oracle processes unless you are very confident.&lt;BR /&gt;However there are some threads on metalink which describe this kind of thing, in relation to dbms_snp processes.&lt;BR /&gt;How are they manifesting themselves?&lt;BR /&gt;(ie how do they appear in ps -ef)&lt;BR /&gt;If you have metalink access, search for "defunct"&lt;BR /&gt;-- Graham</description>

      <title>Oracle creating defunct process</title>

      <description>Hi &lt;BR /&gt;  We got Oracle 9.2.0 database server, Now one of the Oracle process is creating defunct process, which I am not able to kill using kill -HUP &lt;PPID&gt;, These process will get killed once I restart the database instance. After some time again child process are turning into defunct process. Can any one suggest a solution.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks in Adv.&lt;/PPID&gt;</description>
