      <description>Edit /etc/issue and put the message you want displayed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if you want the same message to be displayed when people telnet to this system, edit /etc/inetd.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;find the line which starts with telnet and append this to the end of that line:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-b /etc/issue&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;save &amp;amp; exit then  run command&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;inetd -c # to reread the inetd.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hope this helps.</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Edit /etc/inetd.conf as follows:&lt;BR /&gt;login        stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/rlogind  rlogind -B /etc/message&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Write into /etc/message whatever you need and run: kill -1 NNNN , wher NNNN is PID of inetd.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The desired message will appear before password prompt.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH</description>

      <description>You can do it with following steps to print messages before login as,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-- edit /etc/issue file -- &lt;BR /&gt;Sandeep's Try with banner&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-- edit /etc/inetd.conf --&lt;BR /&gt;telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/telnetd \&lt;BR /&gt;                             telnetd -b/etc/issue&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# Reconfigure inetd(aemon)&lt;BR /&gt;# inetd -c&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you want to have messages after login then edit /etc/profile as regardingly.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hth.</description>
