For AIX 4330-10 Servers:

check your /usr/lib/boot/unix_mp file.
If this is 0 bytes. you will ge this.

"sar: 0551-211 Specify a positive integer for the time change. "

Recover this file, then remove the /unix link and rebuild the /unix link and you will be ok.

sounds like the sar command which someone is running is using the -e and -s values to read back recorded data from the /var/adm/sa/sa* sar datafiles, but they have their time parameters incorrect - they must be positivie values.

Either your sar data collector files are corrupt or possibly your server has been up for a long long time and you need to run a command to reset the counters to zero ocassionally - see man sadc, the command to run to reset your counters is there. If that doesnt work I think youre goig to need to remove your sar data collector files as something is possibly corrupt. Also under the manpage for sadc it points to some documentation in /usr/share/doc/filesys.ps as to ocassional commands/scripts you should run to preserve the integrity of your sar data collector files. Are you runing them ?
Stefan is right.I am not sure whether you sar is setup properly.

you can create a startup script with

/bin/su - root -c /usr/lib/sa/sadc /usr/adm/sa/sa date +%d

Thanks
