Hardware for Oracle Database

Hi Friends,

Could you please suggest me latest good hp hardware for Oracle Database with RAC solution and Backup solution.

This is telecoms Database and has 20 millions subscribers. Database is connected with other more 6 systems(ICMS(IBM) ICM(CISCO), AVR, SMSC/OMG and so on..)

Please find attached my system diagram which i am going to upgrade with latest hardware. If you have more idea about it please let me know.

My Database name is IDB.
Currently I have Active/Paasive archetecture
I am going for Active/Active archetecture.

I will still go for a PA-RISC based HP-UX system:

2 x rp7410's (Fully Loaded...)

And for storage:
HDS Storage (aka HP XP 512/1024)

And for storage Management:

Veritas Database Edition or whatever product they now have that supports Oracle9i RAC.

I would recommmend the latest Ultrium Tape drives for backup and recovery. We have Ultrium 230 external drives with 200 GB tape capacity. The 4xx series ultrium drives supposedly hold twice as much on a tape and cost around $5,000 per drive. These are SCSI LVD devices and you'll need that type of card in the box.

You might be able to get away with high end rp54x0 server technology, that depends on your transaction volume. Remember, Oracle licenses are $40,000 per CPU so you are probably better off with less CPU's that do more. rp74x0 series servers, 2 processor minimum, 8-16 GB of RAM.

If you can go all HP with your disk solution, you should get Tachyon PCI fiber cards, two of them so you can set up for failover.
