Hi

I presume you want this so that messages are sent to your NMS?
If you have HP Openview NNM installed then you could use the snmptrap command and put this in a script ie check CPU load then if its above defined threshold send the trap.
See snmptrap man page for more details. You could also use perl to generate an snmptrap (snmptrap() routine).

If you have Measureware installed, have a look at the /var/opt/perf/alarmdef file. This can be configured to send alerts if cpu, disk, memory, filesystem etc thresholds are breached.
See the agsysdb man page & the MWA Users Guide.

Cheers
Con
Is there a way that I could configure the HP-UX send a snmp trap when the CPU utilisation reach to certain value?

Hi,
I don't think this feature is available in HP UX. but if you are using some monitoring tools like HP-OV, Tivoli or Unicenter-TNG then you can do it.
In this case some agents must be running on servers and theat agents you can configure t send snmp trap on conditions like CPU Utilisation,Memory or any other parameters.

Sunil
