Hi all,

Thank you for your suggestions/feedback that you have been submitting to us. We're listening and are trying to act as quickly as possible to address some of the issues you've addressed online and via the Feedback mechanism. Thanks for caring enough about the service to take a few minutes to send us a detailed description of the problem you're experiencing in the Forums, or sending comments/suggestions you have about the Forums. We appreciate your input! We also welcome words of encouragement and kudos. : )

I received a message from Shaun Aldrich letting me know that he hasn't been able to assign points to some of you because of the problem we're experiencing with the SSI errors. I'm sure he isn't alone, so please take that into consideration until we fix the problem. Please hang in there while we fix these issues, we're all affected by the SSI errors and performance problems.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Happy holidays,

Your Forum Administrator
We should absolutely extend patience and understanding to the poor people having to fix this mess. However, and here is the inevitable "but", IMHO releasing this product in it's original state points to a failure of management.

It's not the web developers fault when a product needs more time to finish testing and debugging. It is an indictment of management however when such a product is released early. Just my .02 cents and MHO.

I love that idea Danny. Posting the hot issues and status would reduce the number of posts that are "airing" out the problems. We could just go check the status board for an update. And a link from there to report new problems would be a convenience also.

Just my 1.5cents worth. ;^)
Cheers!

It would be ideal to actually see the forum someone is replying to (maybe at the bottom of the page you reply to) so that if they wanted to, they could cut and paste information from previous responses and put them in their reply.

Its a lot easier than hitting the back and forward key!! :-)

This ITRC forum is really doing a wonderfull job. It is a great help for newbie as well as experienced unix admins and also for DBA etc. Even i experience the same errors/problems while accessing/replying to questions. Hope we have a better forum starting from the holiday season to 2001 and forth. Also thanks to those involved in support of this forum and hope ITRC forum has a wider base.

Shayne,

It???s always nice to have the forum admins come back and pat us on the head sometimes. ;-)

I???m an advocate for the issues area as well. Although Dan does a GREAT job with the monthly ???issues thread???, I think the idea of having an area that gives a running account of the status of certain issues is an even better idea.

I do feel that it should be considered a different area than the ???general announcements/issues??? area that has been suggested. It would be rather disheartening for me to see something like ???Congratulations John???!??? right under a ???Man, this sucks!??? thread.

Just my thoughts on the subject???

Dave,

I might be able to assist you on locating the questions you have posted even if you decide to come back to them months (or years) later for review.

If you will take a few moments to review your public profile (screen shot of it at this current time attached to assist) you will see an area that states ???This member has assigned points to 58 of 157 responses to his/her questions???.

When you look at that line, you should notice that the last part of it is a link. If you click on that link, you will be taken to a list of all of your questions that you can review simply by clicking on them as well.

Following those links to your previous questions/answers, you should also be able to find all of the rest of those answers you haven???t assigned points to yet and be able to move you assignment rate from 37% to 100%.

If you have problems understanding my instructions, then please post back and let us know. I???m sure I???m not the only one that would be willing to point out some possible shortcuts to forum navigation. After all, none of us want to work harder, just smarter ;-)
Mike,

OK, you just proved to me why I might want to look at the date that the thread opened prior to replying to it. <BLUSH>

Anyway, maybe my little message might be useful to someone anyway.

Now that you mention it, it seems like the edit/deletion of a post may be the only reason that this thread came back to the top of the list. It does seem as if my above post was the only one since the year 2000 ;-P~~

Now I???m curious as to what could have been in that thread to make someone remove it without a trace???

I also have to admit that I was wondering who this self-proclaimed admin was, but I decided that there wasn???t much sense in my thinking that I could know the entire HP staff for the forums. I just took it at face value.

Glad you like the new quote. I thought it was time for a change. While the old one was true, it just didn???t stick in the mind very long.

I???m thinking that I might want to change them around sometimes just to keep everybody on their toes and hopefully give someone a smile (or even a laugh) every now and then.

I still like your quote better than mine. I???m a firm believer that everybody should get naked more often!

Later!
</BLUSH>
