Assuming you are running on an HP-UX system, you can do this as root:

ioscan -fnC lan

which should give you some information about the LAN cards installed. Also, if you have physical access to the machine you can go to the rear of it and look at the model numbers on the LAN cards. They are usually stamped or labeled with the model number.

I'm just curious, but what problem is your networking people trying to solve?

JP
It doesn't have one. Not in the sense that a PC NIC does. If you have xstm, you can use it to obtain this info from your card:

-- Information Tool Log for PCI 100 BaseT LAN Interface on path 0/2/0/0 --

Log creation time: Wed Apr 23 12:16:30 2003

Hardware path: 0/2/0/0

Product ID: PCI 100 BaseT LAN Interface
Device ID: 0x0019
Revision ID 0x0041
Vendor ID: 0x1011 ( Digital Equipment Corporation )
Class Code: 0x020000
Base Class: 0x02 ( Network Controller. )
Sub-Class/Interface: 00/00 ( Ethernet controller )
Device Status: 0x0280
Bit 7: Fast Back-to-Back Capable
Bit 9-10: DEVSEL timing 01 - medium
Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x103c
Subsystem ID: 0x1067

run xstm, right click on the graphic of the NIC and click on "Information".

HTH
mark
