The stape drive is available, just not configured into your kernel. Just go into SAM, select kernel configuration, then drivers, and scroll through the list until you come to stape. Include it into your kernel and rebuild.

The mchanger driver is unfamiliar to me.

Pete

I have an hp 11i box going through a fiber card into a SAN gateway to a ADIC 100 SDLT tape changer. The driver for the fiber card is installed and the fiber cable is good. But when I do an ioscan, the server doesn't see anything past the fiber card. I spoke with ADIC and they say I need the 'stape' and 'mchanger' drivers. I did a search and couldn't find any info on these. Anyone know of these drivers?

Hi,

Login as root and go into sam, choose Kernel Configuration and Drivers. You should see the drivers there and be able to configure them in. My box here has 'stape', but I don't have 'mchanger'. If you are missing a driver you might need some software or a patch.

JP
Hi Charles,

Do you have "schgr" driver configured in the kernel. If not configure this driver into the kernel, reboot the system and see if the changer is configured. You should see it as /dev/rac/....

Hope this helps.

Regds
I have not heard of mchanger driver. I think they want to mean schgr driver, because this is the driver use for almost all the Tape Libraries. Go to SAM and change the status of stape and schgr driver from out to in. It will rebuilt your kernel and reboot the system. Then check it. It should work.

Sandip
