CDE still not running on HP-UX 11.11

Hi,
Question already asked a few days ago, but still having trouble with CDE:
Is the file /var/adm/inetd.sec required for CDE to run properly on HP-UX? I do not have it, where can i get a copy?

My CDE runs fine with a present but nearly empty inetd.sec file (see attached).

The file is not needed for CDE.

for you CE problem did you check your
/etc/resolv.conf and /etc/nsswitch.conf
files?

inetd.sec is the file where we can restrict some services , including CDE services such as rpc.ttdbserver and the dtcm process callendar manager. When the file does not exist it simply means you have no restrictions set, however CDE's dr_dt script checks for the files existence .... if you created an empty file it probably wouldn't complain.

Where to get a copy try...
/usr/newconfig/var/adm/inetd.sec

or if that's missing try a similar system nb there were certainly differences between the 10.20 and 11.00 O/S's so I'd try like O/S's ....

Few things to check.

Is host resolution happeneing properly. forward and backward?

IS dtlogin running on the server?

If you have inetd.sec, then are these services allowed in that?

dtspc allow
spc allow
mserve allow

What does the errorlog says?
and /var/dt/Xerros says?

inetd.sec copy you will get in /usr/newconfig/var/adm.

Hi

Run

/usr/contrib/bin/X11/dr_dt

Correct any faults

This little script will tell you of any faults in CDE

Also look in
/var/dt/Xerrors and /etc/rc.log for faults

You may already know this but anyways

Pre 11.00 all pieces of CDE installed with the OS
11.00 and above only part of the entire CDE package is installed with the OS, if you want a server to act as client for ITO/OPO or Omniback you need to install the other piece of CDE from the application cd's ..no coded needed to unlock it

i would fine the app CD and intsall/re-install the CDE pieces and see if that fixes your problem.
