Hi Shiv

There seems to be hardware problem since you are not able to boot from CD. You may however try to boot from tape drive and use Ignite to setup the server.

Regards
Mahesh

if the cd install fails, usually it is an indicative of a hardware problem and ignite will also most likely fail.

if you can copy the error messages from the screen and post here, maybe we can tell you what seems to be the problem.

Unless the CD install failed due to a bad CD rom drive, tape install is also going to fail as Malik has suggested. As I have said in my previous message, if you can post the errors you have seen at the installation time, we can most probably tell you what is failing.

Shiv,

And Ignite is used to creaet a bootable tape with the vg00 and maybe other vg of the server.

But if you didn't create a Ignite tape or an image of the server prior to the boot problem, it won't help you now either.

After the OS and applications have been installed on a server, it is a good practice to create at that moment an Ignite tape. Did you do that?

best regards,
Kurt

The CD installedfailed, the ignite will probably fail as well.

There may be HW issues that need to be corrected 1st before doing type of install
