Please Submit Your Forums Successes - November 2002!

Hi Everyone,

Please submit your highlights and successes you have had while using the ITRC Forums. Your feedback helps convey the positive influences the forums have had on your IT life. For example, have you:

1. Posted a question and received a key answer that solved your problem?
2. Have you viewed a message thread that had a solution to a problem you were trying to solve?
3. Found the Forums to be of particular help in sharing information, exchanging best practices, or saving you time?

I'd really like to hear from everyone -- your circumstances, the issues, the outcome, who was of help, time saved, etc.! If you have examples to share, please provide the URL of the thread if possible.

I would highly recommend this forum for all hp-ux admins as there is so much to learn from others! I remember when one of my scripts was failing, this forum came to my rescue and I was able to fix the error within a matter of minutes!!

Dan,

I use these forums on a daily basis, for both research for future issues, and for help with existing problems.

99% of the time I'm able to find an existing thread that answers I am looking for, or I get my question answered by members.

To me it's sad to say, but I get better responses from the forums than I do from paid HP support.

I lost a disk drive on an old server yesterday. While waiting for HP to replace it I realized that I needed a fast way to copy the files from one system to the failed one when the drive swap was complete. My friend suggested that I search the forums and in less than 2 minutes I had the answer I was looking for. Thank you for providing the service.

My first resource is the forums for problems large or small. the old saying is true, "If I am having this problem, chances are someone else has already had it, or if not, they will soon". I also check the forums and try to help when I can, gotta keep these admins working.

1- I have used this forum several times and most of them succesfully. I found specialy useful a C prog from Andreas Voss to fix /etc/utmp corruption. . I still run it while i find a maintenance slot to apply the patch. Thanks Andreas

As tool, the forum doesn't have price. You can find solution to your problems before HP responds you. Besides finding curious and very important things as which this week I found:
