i know samba and it works for me , no idea some one else can give you more infromation.

Does UNIX share files/directorys with Windows
based system? samba could be done?

The samba product will do this quite well. CIFS is the name HP gave it. (samba) CIFS is only supplied for HPUX 11 and above. (not 10.20) You'll have to get from the porting centre.

The software is installed using the standard program 'swinstall'

Samba works great for the sharing of unix filesystems to windows.

check for the latest version of samba at

www.samba.org

Not sure about which one is more secure.
