I still have a HP-UX 9.04 box, and I need to configure it to connect to a remote DNS server.

I also need to maintain select host
entries in the local host file. How can I configure the machine to search the DNS first and then fail to the local hosts file?

I know that I need to configure /etc/nsswitch.conf, but this is not available under 9.04...

Thank you for your time.

Brian

Brian,

I found an old post that indicated to load these patches:

PHNE_4488
PHNE_4563
PHCO_4784
PHCO_11162
PHSS_11276
PHSS_9858

I think most of them are superseded now. Please double-check with the ITRC patch database.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Fred.
