Printing Error Code

I am getting the following error code when trying to print to one of our printers. It acts like the job finished, the print queue flushes but the job does not print.
Example:
error code 2 in request peoplesoft-6274 on printer paypeoplesoft

Any/all help greatly appreciated.

That error code implies 'Can't write' somewhere.
I can have tons of reason for that:
1. the hpux script that is called by lp can't write to the the local device, for ex /dev/lp_peoplesoft
2. the script uses log files, or teefiles that can't be written during the print process
3. the script calls another program, that also can't write it's own temporary files.

That last option has been encounterd some years ago within the first version of the hpnp software (JetDirect), only root could print, coz the logfile generated was its own property.
It's been, luckily, corrected.

Do you have any more infos to tell about which method do you use to acces your printer ?
