The messages are the SCSI reset due to a device which is not responding to the specific timeout period.

The system would reset the SCSI bus and try again and again.

check for the SCSI connections.

//
Just check whether you have proper termination.
//

Do you have any extra messages in the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file.

Ioscan will request information from each device.
Does your ioscan hang for some time?

check for all messages in syslog.

Thanks

Hi,kholikt:
I have encountered the same question before.
TGM is right, the SCSI reset due to a device which is not responding to the specific timeout period.
At first, I suspected the termination and then changed it but it didn't work so I suspected the SCSI cable so that I changed the cable then the question was solved.

Thanks.

Al.

I'm going to play Karnac here.

You have an Ultrium LTO?
Random failures with errors like "Error while writing to data record XXXX"

The SCB error is a scsi bus timing error. There is a problem with the ultriums, that they have a bug in the SCSI controller chip.

They have a little utility to tell them if you have the "SELWAY" chip. If you do, they will replace the tape drive.

Good Luck!

Jerry Jaynes
