    <description>Hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I think Steve has got it with your /etc/resolv.conf entry. It should be something like&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;search ect.com&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;nameserver 172.23.123.1 # mail &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;And, the recommended way for your /etc/nsswitch.conf is to attempt to resolve locally first before contacting dns&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hosts: files [NOTFOUND=continue] dns&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If your hosts are added to the /etc/hosts this will speed up resolution as dns will not have to be contacted&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Steve</description>

      <description>This is a /etc/nsswitch.conf file &lt;BR /&gt;hosts:  dns files&lt;BR /&gt;protocols: files[NOTFOUND=return UNAVAIL=continue]&lt;BR /&gt;services: files&lt;BR /&gt;[NOTFOUND=return UNAVAIL=continue]&lt;BR /&gt;networks: files[NOTFOUND=return UNAVAIL=continue]&lt;BR /&gt;netgroup: files[NOTFOUND=return UNAVAIL=continue]&lt;BR /&gt;rpc: files[NOTFOUND=return UNAVAIL=continue]&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This is my /etc/resolv.conf file &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;domain ect.com&lt;BR /&gt;nameserver 172.23.123.1 # mail&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What could be wrong ?</description>
