    <description>If you have physical access to an untrusted host, you could power cycle the &lt;BR /&gt;machine, interupt the boot process and go into single-user mode and modify the &lt;BR /&gt;root passwd without needing the root passwd. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Trusted Systems still require the root passwd to get into single user mode.  &lt;BR /&gt;Contact the HP Response Center to get any further information regarding lost &lt;BR /&gt;root passwords on trusted systems.&lt;BR /&gt;(Those kind of security answers probably shouldn't be posted in this forum, &lt;BR /&gt;imho)</description>

      <description>What is the best way to retrieve or amend the root password if it is ever lost, &lt;BR /&gt;or changed by mistake. I never anticipate this happening, and already have a &lt;BR /&gt;secondary 'root' equivalent user created on the system in case, but wondered if &lt;BR /&gt;there are any other methods ?</description>

      <description>Could anybody give more information about how recovery the system when I lost root password on trusted system ? or How untrust a system when I don??t know the root password.</description>

      <description>Hello,&lt;BR /&gt;you can boot into single user mode and can change your password.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When you are booting your machine &lt;BR /&gt;interrupt at boot sequence&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;interact with ISL&amp;gt;yes&lt;BR /&gt;ISL&amp;gt;hpux -is&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks</description>

      <description>Simon&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;A secont root password/user is a security risk and the apparent peace of mind it gives is far outweighted by having this second root level user.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;As already stated a lost root password can be sorted by a reboot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Paula</description>
