On your CDE desktop, you should see an icon with an artist's pallete in it. Clicking on that will bring up Style Manager. In Style Manager, click on Screen. Toward the bottom of the screen window, you'll see a section called "Screen Lock". Click the "On" button, and set the "Start Lock" timer by sliding the bar to the desired time.

In the section above, I normally select "Blank Screen" because the various screen savers all consume CPU cycles. I've never tried setting the Screen Lock with out selecting a Screen Saver/Blanker - I wonder it that would lock the keyboard without blanking the display - maybe worth a try?

Hope This Helps,
Pete

How to lock the workstation but the screen will still show the current view. This is because, I'm monitoring my backup process thru my workstation console but I need to look at it once a while. So I do not need to login again and again just to see the status.

The only way I know of is through CDE's screen saver/blanker which you can set to require a password. You don't have to completely log in again but you do have to enter your password in order to get rid of the screen saver.

Pete

Out of curiosity, I tried locking without having the screen saver set to on - it blanks the screen, then you have to enter a password.

Pete
