Who have the installation guide about Oralce 8i on HP-UX 11.11?

Hi,

The Oracle 8i CD has this installation guide. One thing you must have to be able to install Oracle 8i is a XTerm session...

Well, there may not be a particular release note for 11.11, but it may not differ from 11.00.

As Eric said, there may be release notes on the CD. For more docs, 8i library is still available from here : http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/oracle8i.html
(even 7.3.4 is still available !)

Hi China,

I have to comment that Oracle 8i is not supported anymore by Oracle.
If you can (or your application supports it), consider installing Oracle 9i or 10G.
A lot of information can be found on Oracle metalink (http://metalink.oracle.com)

There is more.

Here are the details for oracle 8.1.7.4 de-support. (Refer Note 148054.1).
Error correction Support (ECS) ended on 31-DEC-2004
Extended Maintenance Support for 8.1.7 on 31-DEC-2006
Extended Support (ES) for 8.1.7 ends on 31-DEC-2007

So it is recommended to go for the latest releases of Oracle RDBMS. However if you have application rescrictions or business requirements, then you can install 8.1.7.4 following the installation guide. But before installation, attached is a script to Verify Installation Requirements for Oracle 8.0.5 to 9.2 versions of RDBMS to verify that the system is configured correctly according to the Installation Guide.
The output of the script will report tasks that need to be performed before successfully installing Oracle 8.0.5 to 9.2 DataServer (RDBMS).
Note: Most all of the checks have been added to the 10G installer and performed automatically.

This script checks for all known items that will cause the install to fail.
Follow these steps to download and run the script:
1. Change the name of the script to InstallPrep.sh
2. Ftp the InstallPrep.sh script (in ascii format) to the Unix system that you will be installing the Oracle DataServer on.
3. Change the permissions of the script to execute for the user running the script:
chmod 777 InstallPrep.sh
4. Log in as the user that will be installing the Oracle software.
5. Copy the InstallPrep.sh script to the /tmp directory and run it from this location.
6. Answer the first few questions, the output from the script will be written to /tmp/InstallPrep.out and the errors written to /tmp/InstallPrep.err.
7. Resolve any problems found in /tmp/InstallPrep.err and then install the Oracle DataServer software.
