Hi,

Again, read this document. This says the message you are getting is not an error but a NOTE only. You don't need to worry about that !

http://us-support.external.hp.com/cki/bin/doc.pl/sid=8473cfb2143e7f0636/screen=ckiDisplayDocument?docId=400000000010640

The white paper says these messages are common on installation of bundles. Did you able to install the patch bundle ?

HTH,
Shiju

I went to the docs website for HP and I believe I am following the directions completely. However, I am running into problems when I execute the command:

swinstall -s <HOST>:/cdrom/HWE1100 \ -x patch_match_target=true -x autoreboot=true

This is what they tell me to do to install the patches and it fails with this error:

magneto:/cdrom/HWE1100": Cannot open the logfile on this
target or source. Possibly the media is read-only or there is
a permission problem. Check the daemon logfile and
"/var/tmp/swagent.log" on this host for more information.

Can anyone shed some light on this? what am I doing wrong. My CD is mounted and the files are there. What gives?

Mike
</HOST>

Hi,

Some points:

1) Are you installing from a remote system ? If yes, then you have to register the depot with swreg command.
2) Try invoking 'swinstall' and then specify the full path in the target window.
3) Restart the 'swagentd' and try again.

HTH,
Shiju

Hi

Add this parameter and try again.

-xrpc_binding_info=ncadg_ip_udp:[2121]

rpc_binding_info=ncadg_ip_udp:[2121]
Defines the protocol sequence and endpoint which will be used to contact swagentd. HP-UX supports both the udp (ncadg_ip_udp:[2121] and tcp (ncacn_ip_tcp:[2121] protocol sequence/endpoint. This value should be
consistent among all hosts that work together. See sd(5) for details on specifying this option.

This should help.If not report the error.

Steve Steel

Actually you are right. It was a warning but I get an error that follows:

ERROR: Could not apply the software selection "-x"; it is not
available from depot or root "magneto:/cdrom/QPK1100".
* Software selection failed for "magneto:/cdrom/QPK1100".

I know my syntax is correct because it has worked before. I also tried the gui per the hp.docs instructions and it also claims there isnt' anything that matches the filter. I don't know what gives. There are a ton of patches on the CDROM and I have done this before!

Mike

Hi mIchael,
The error message you are getting is not an error. It is just a notification this might be due to your installation from unregistered depot. I also installed the same pak from the CD and got the same message but it is normal. Everything went well.
So, not to worry about this problem.

-pap

Hi Michael,

I believe you need to use \* & not just \ .
It's interpreting the -x as the product/bundle/fileset you want to install.

HTH,
Jeff
