Can you tell us where you were in the install guide?

The install guide is very complex and every minute detail must be followed to the letter. The machine and kernel check almost always leads to patches and kernel changes, some of which make no sense to veteran HP-UX administrators.

Make sure you have lots of space and have followed the guidelines for allocation of shmmax.

SEP

Hi Girish,

You can register free on Oracle Metalink. If you have to do more (DBA) Oracle-related stuff, it's quite handy!
You can also try http://asktom.oracle.com. He's a sort of "Dr. Phill" on Oracle issues.

By the way, it is defenately a Java problem.
How did you "score" the software? If you downloaded it, search for a navailable OUI (Oracle Universal Installer) patch on otn.oracle.com. Else phone your software distributer where you ordered the CD-ROM pack and ask them. If I'm right, only Oracle Certified Partners can distribute Oracle software, so they should have found out the issue before you did...

Good Luck,

Renarios

Hi Girish,

The error â error while loading :generalQueriesâ that you are experiencing while loading Oracle10g

Could be due to the base inventory directory location or due to the OUI version that you are using.

As other posts mentioned, how did you get the software (downloaded or you ordered the CD-ROM pack from the software distributerâ ¦.?). Please read the install guide and as Steven mentioned every minute detail must be followed.

If it is the OUI version then you can get the latest version of OUI from your local support centre or download or log an itar in metalink.

If it is due to the inventory directory location, check your base inventory directory. Check the ownership of the directory. When you invoke the OUI for the first time, you must specify a base inventory directory. During installation, the OUI creates the base directory and some subdirectories. The files under the base directory are used by OUI for tracking what products are installed.

If the base directory is missing then error box will appear that states: â an error during loading library GeneralQueriesâ . You could try removing the orainst.loc file and restart OUI again and see.

For more info check the installation log for errors. A text log of the OUI installation is stored in a file
with the following naming convention :installActionsYYYY-MM-DD_HH_MM_SS-<AM>.log and
oraInstallYYYY-MM-DD_HH_MM_SS-<AM>.err

I hope this hel</AM></AM>

Hi Girish,

Java i/o exception error looks like something to do with the â Install Java Runtime Environment (JRE)â verify to see if the latest version of JRE is installed as it is an installation requirement.

CRS (Cluster Ready Services) is a new feature for 10g Real Application Clusters. And remember CRS HOME and ORACLE_HOME must be installed in DIFFERENT locations. CRS is REQUIRED to be installed and running prior to installing 10g RAC.

In
