      <description>Jamshed,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Are you trying to logon to telnet as root. May be you have the file /etc/securetty file that syas root login is allowed only on console. You can logon to telnet as any other user and then su - to logon as root.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;IA</description>

      <description>Hi Jamshed,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It is a strange problem. Are you sure, your telnet is not working after the root password change. They are not related, at least to me.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What do you mean by "telnet not working"? Are you not able to login as root with the new password or the telnet prompt itself does not appear?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Please explain the problem a bit more.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Also, let us know if this is a trusted system and what is the OS version.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;With regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Mohan.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

Please answer the below,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1) which users password did you change&lt;BR /&gt;2) Is this a trusted system&lt;BR /&gt;3) is your password having any special characters&lt;BR /&gt;4) What is the length of the password&lt;BR /&gt;5) If none of the user is able to login, then try booting to single-user mode and change the root password again&lt;BR /&gt;6) is your password file huge, like 600-700 user entries?&lt;BR /&gt;7) Is this problem only in telnet,what about the console login?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;With regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Mohan.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
