HP-UX 11.11 and CIFS 02.01.01

Hi everyone,

Samba/CIFS has stopped working for me (I can't see my shares anymore) and I get the following error in my smb.log file. Any ideas?

open_sockets_smbd: accept: No buffer space available

Sounds like you need to clear the buffer space. Can you stop and restart samba?

Yes, I can stop and restart Samba but it doesn't seem to fix it.

What is the buffer cache set on your machine?? Dynamic cache ot static??

Also what is your setting for max connections in smb.conf??

Buffer cache: not sure what you mean...if you mean in the kernel ...

buf_cache_hash_locks = 128 and static

Buffer cache setting is dbc_max_pct and dbc_min_pct or nbuf, bufpages kernel parameters.

What are your settings??

Also what is the tcp_conn_request_max setting??

ndd -get /dev/tcp tcp_conn_request_max.
Also all latest network related patches.

These settings are the same as I have on another server which is working with Samba.

I have a number of patches on the system. How can I narrow down the network only patches?

Look for latest network related patches on itrc and apply.

Buffer cache (your are using static one-setting of bufpages) looks OK. Also tcp_conn_request_max looks OK.
Is there any difference betwen config files on working system and on system where samba is not working??

No, I can't find any differences at all. I think I have more patches on the system that is not working....so I will have to go through each patch. That is all that I can think of for now. Thanks for your help!
