Hi,

Cloning (using Ignite) can be done between 2 different models, we have successfully done between D class, K class,L-class and other rpxxxx models

One quick question.

I would like to recover my application installed in a C3000 workstation to a C3600 machine.

Is it possible to clone and recover between different machines?

Ive done cloning successfully between C3600 but have not tried with different models. I assume the C3000 and C3600 doesnt have much difference in terms of specs and storage thus Im looking for the possibility of doing it.

Otherwise I have to upgrade the C3600 from scratch if cloning is not possible.

Thank you all for your ideas.

You can use the free software knowns as Ignite/UX for this purpose.
Take a look here:
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/IUX/

I have not done so with your model, but think you should be able to do it.

Besides doing ignite restores
I have done dd copys and moved disk to different servers.

The boot I/O bus address were the same
for example the disk address
0/2/0/0.0.0 was the same on both platforms.

and the CPU's were a similar class. but different speeds.
All of the I/O address don't have to be identical. I had to manually creates serveral volume groups and import data disk for serveral of the drives that were at different I/O addresses on the cloned platform. It didn't take long.

Rory
