      <description>I don't see why you need to reboot for modifying&lt;BR /&gt;/etc/hosts file even if NIS/NFS is configured. What&lt;BR /&gt;exactly you are modifying in /etc/hosts file?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;- Biswajit&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Shankar,&lt;BR /&gt;no reboot required to pick up changes in /etc/hosts.&lt;BR /&gt;Please check /etc/nsswitch.conf to ensure /etc/hosts is used first.&lt;BR /&gt;Do you have a specific problem which led to your question?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards</description>
