Your last booted kernel before the bad one was renamed to vmunix.prev after the new kernel was built. Unless you booted and deleted it it should still be there.

What errors does the old kernel give when you try to boot it?
What command are you giving from ISL to boot the old kernel?
What command EXACTLY is used to boot the current kernel from ISL default?

As for the new kernel, sounds like a typo or a value past physical limits in the buffer cash causing it to try and overallocate memory. This is why I said in your other thread I'd give no advice without the specifics of your system!

Kernels are tightly intwined with the resources on the system, and should not be modified unless you have you have 1) knowledge of the Kernel 2) knowledge of the system.

Regards,
Shannon
If you are having the identical system then create a make_recovery tape on that system (not full vg00) and restore that on this system. During recovery just put the correct IP add and host name.

Sandip

Nope, if you read the man page for make_recovery it makes a system image. If you use the tape it will overwrite your file system and all configuraiton files with the make_recovery image. You can NOT restore vmunix.

Regards,
Shannon

You may want to consider booting up from the Support Media and then rebuild your kernel. I have not done this before but the steps are here .. (DOCID=OZBEKBRC00000582)
http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000063236538
Hope this helps ..
You sure you got the correct Install/Support CD ? Do you have another CD of either a later or earlier release. Try using that instead.
