Hi there

If you've got a backup of the system, have a look at the /var/adm/sw/.codewords file.

Keith

hi,

If you contact Hp with your customer identifier number they will be able to tell you the codewords, or the serial number of the server if its been on support.
contact them at

www.licensing.hp.com

Also the cd part numbers you listed are for both server and workstation.

The B3920-xxxx ones are for 800's server and the B3782-xxxx ones are for 700's workstation.

They are not interchangable software packages as the mirrordisc/ux has different product numbers for 700's and 800's

Andy

Have he had a backup he could have restored everything and would never have needed a codeword.
HP-UX has been out of support for some time but your local HP office may still have a copy and as a trade job go out to install it on youe system. They will need some proof of purchase or the product being on a SW-update contract.

Regards,
Trond

Yes it's true I have 800 series, so just consider B39xx media.
actually it's a little bit more complicated as explained first. In our company we had quite a lot of licenses for 10.20 and those server where upgraded to newer hpux 11i. I still have the codeword for those but not the CD media. In other hand I have different installation media without codewords and I just want to add mirror sw on my old system (that was installed without) for more security using the licenses we had on other servers.

So I have 2 possibilities, ether find a codeword for those CD media
B3920-13925
B3920-13926
B3920-13927
B3920-13928

or find a CDROM media B3920-14003 where I have the code but I think this would be more complicated.

I'v already try few options with hp without results
so

I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to use somebody else's codeword to unlock the software on your system. It would be like trying to use somebody else's PIN to access cash for your credit card. When a codeword is generated, it is unique to the system for which it was created.

I just checked the codeword delivery website (http://licensing.hp.com/welcome.slm), and the wording in the FAQ implies that codewords can still be redeemed for HP-UX 10.x and later versions. If you have your licensing documentation, you should be able to get the needed codeword.

Best Regards,

Dave

hi Dave
It not true because the codeword and the cust. ID are related uniquly to the CDROM media. So I still hope to find something.
Thanks for your reply
