I have HP-UX 11i system , and i have defined a network printers on it , i want to know at which file the banner of each printer found .

can you please do a find:
cd /etc/lp
find . -name

That should return something.

the only directory that contain the printers names is

/var/opt/pd/spooler1/pdb/log_printer

I was baffled that a self proclaimed expert (Star by name) would not know this.
But just for fun I did a search for lp banner.
Try it, you will get a host of hits, many of which will anser your question.

Dear All

there is a file for each printers type which contain a script of the banner, and it is the same for all my printers as a define them as the same type, and this found in the directory /usr/spool/lp/model, so i want a special banner for each printer,how could i do this.

If I understand correctly, you want specific, totally different banners for each printer? Maybe you could copy one (generic) model script (in /usr/spool/lp/model) to another individual model script (with a unique name) and make your banner changes. Then when you create the printer, point it to the individual model script in /usr/spool/lp/model. You would therefore have one model script per printer.

You will have to edit the file which is relevant to your model in /var/spool/lp/model and make necessary changes as per your requirement.
