      <description>I have oracle 8.1.7.&lt;BR /&gt;I am trying to intall VPO 7.X server on the machine. I was trying configuring database. By mistake i removed some control files. not I am not able to shutdown the database. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;any solution for this?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;manu.</description>

      <description>Hi Jean,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I had removed all the control files including the one mentioned in the control_file parameter in *.ora file for my SID. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now if i run the command &lt;BR /&gt;select * from v$controlfile&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I get the following output.&lt;BR /&gt;STATUS&lt;BR /&gt;-------&lt;BR /&gt;NAME&lt;BR /&gt;--------------------------------------------------------------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;/u01/oradata/openview/control01.ctl&lt;BR /&gt;/u01/oradata/openview/control02.ctl&lt;BR /&gt;/u01/oradata/openview/control03.ctl&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But none of these files are acutally present.  Now i tried shutdown. output is below.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;==========================================&lt;BR /&gt;SQL&amp;gt; shutdown&lt;BR /&gt;ORA-00210: cannot open the specified controlfile&lt;BR /&gt;ORA-00202: controlfile: '/u01/oradata/openview/control01.ctl'&lt;BR /&gt;ORA-27041: unable to open file&lt;BR /&gt;HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directory&lt;BR /&gt;Additional information: 3&lt;BR /&gt;==========================================&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now I tried shutdown abort. "alter database backup controlfile to trace" would have created a script that you could have used to re-create your control file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Do you have a copy of such a script?
