topic pwconv in Operating System - HP-UX

Hi,

I had used pwconv command on the system.

It has produced following traces.

Directories created.
Making default files.
System default file created...
Terminal default file created...
Device assignment file created...
Moving passwords...

secure password database installed.
Converting at and crontab jobs...
At and crontab files converted.

After that root account was disabled.
We resolved this problem by booting the system in to single user mode and we used tsconvert -r , to recover the system.

Does anybody know about the command pwconv .

Hi,

You should execute tsconvert with the -c option to convert to your system to trusted ie.

# /usr/lbin/tsconvert -c

pwconv should not be used directly, since HP-UX provides the tsconvert facility unlike most other Unixes.

The safest way of converting your system to trusted is to do it in SAM.

You could also use this command to preserve the root users password after you convert.

/usr/lbin/modprpw -V root
