Moving Printers from machine to machine

Hello there
I am setting up a new machine here and thought it would be really easy to move printers between machines using SAM's save and restore.
This creates a directory /var/sam/lp and all the configuration files etc.
I tar up this directory and copy it to the new machine, un-tar, and then SAM restore, but it does not seem to work. There were no printers listed and the /etc/lp directories where empty.
I then tried copying all the files cinterface etc to the relevent directories and then I could see all the printer names but was missing the key information - weather it was a network or remote printer and what it was connected to!
Is there a bug with SAM, how can I fix this...

Hello Ben,

Did you put your tar file into the /var/sam directory on your destination box?

No I un-tarred the file into the default directory of /var/sam/lp

Hello there
Just for info sake, I followed all the instructions etc, but I also changed the file permissions within the /var/sam/lp directory to lp:bin.
This then installed all the printers phew!.
Now however I cannot get them to work, typical, also I needed to install the Jet Direct software which solved that problem.

Hi,
Have u copied /var/sam/lp/lpinfo file ?
That is the file which stores all the info of the printers like network or remort etc.
