Hello Gurus,

I am handling LIVE server(HP RP8400/HPUX 11i) with "mision critical" scenario.

Generally i use bdf to monitor file system.
but i need a script which if a file system crosses ,say 70 % usage, will convey it either
through e-mail(preferably) or messages in syslogs.

how to set auditing so that in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log, it can print the messages?

Thanks & Regards
A B H I K

The Event Monitoring Service (EMS) in SAM lets you do this.

In SAM, select "Resource Management" then "Event Monitoring Service", and then you can, among many other options, set up alerts that will be triggered when free space on a file system crosses a boundary. The alerts can be delivered to many destinations, e.g. email and syslog.

See http://www.docs.hp.com/en/ha.html#Event%20Monitoring%20Service%20and%20HA%20Monitors for links to the documentation.

(EMS is free, HA monitors, which are on the same page, but not needed for this, are an additional charge).

Andrew

ABHIK -
Attached find a (rough) script we use for vg monitoring.
I think this will accomodate what you wish to do. You will have to adjust the fields parsed out with awk to meet your environments requirements.

Regards,
dl
