compliling probs. lex/flex

Ig I try to compile php4.0.6 I get the following error:

checking lex output file root... ./configure[2343]: lex: not found.
configure: error: cannot find output from lex; giving up

I have installed flex***.depot and all other files which are requiered (read INSTALL).
What can I do?

have you added the full path to the flex binary to your $PATH variable before running the ./configure script ? (it's a guess)

Looks like you're using the bundled HP compiler which is NOT ansi compliant. I assume you don't have the HP ANSI C compiler installed on your system. Try installing GCC..you should be able to get it from the porting center. Remember that you also need to install binutils in order to get GCC working.

Not sure if this will help, but the PHP site has some info on compiling PHP for HPUX:

Meanwhile I'll dig around some more when I get to work, i.e. in about 1 1/2 hr.

i think, this is the wrong forum but i will ask:
i have made all changes in httpd.conf and restarted apache... why is it not possible to open *.php files? i only see the text but not the functionality... ;o( html files are ok ... changes described in the manuals on www.php.net i have done.

I have the similar problem in compiling php to include oracle extensions.

I have loaded binutils, gcc, flex and bison.
The machine is running HP-UX 11.00, apache 1.3.19 downloaded from HP. This apache came with php and everything works fine.

Now I want to configure php with oracle extensions. Downloaded php 4.0.6

and run the following:

./configure --with-oci8=/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7 --with-apxs=/opt/apache/bin/apxs

make gives following is the error:

In this thread there was discussion before, it seems Micheal mentioned that he solved this issue by removing some *.c files. Can he or someone please let me know what are those *.c files?.

I had the same problem ;o) The first time I can help and not ask...
You only have to go in file tsrm_virtual_cwd.c in line 568 and change mode_t to int. Then save and run again. Should be ok then.

I don't know where you can the C source file. the *.c files are c- or c++ source files. I can't look on my own installation because the server got a new OS installation and I have to reinstall php and apache ;(
