"uname -S " fails

Hi all,
Iam having a server running HPUX11i. I had setup the dhcp server to give ipaddress for lan0 and when the server boots Iam seeing in the HPUX Startup sequence that the hostname setup script (/sbin/rc1.d/S320hostname fails.
"Setting hostname..... FAIL *"

When I run this from command line I figured out that the hostname / nodename that the dhcp server setsup is longer than 9 chars and so the command "uname -S ${HOSTNAME} fails.

Reading some docs I figuredout that there is a variable in sys/utsname.h structure has a variable "UTSLEN" that is set to 9 which is the limiting factor.

Is there a way to setup the variable to be bigger than that. Can someone help me please!

Also, my "swlist" command fails because it is not able to get the right name for the server, is there a workarround for this.
